Fire and Ice

As the ice tames the fire,
The fire will melt the ice.

But what does this cause?
Does it destroy the two or does it
Create a river of even-tempered water
Where the laughter of love finds a place to call home.

You are the ice.
Every part of you is calm and steady
And held together by nature.
Your stillness calms everything in me.
You remind me of what it feels like
To walk through a serene forest.

I am the fire.
My emotions scattering around
Being impossible to track down.
The fire has a motive of independence.
An elegant flare of light
With the ability to cause pain.

But what does the flame do
When the fire can’t burn ice?

Each drop begins to run.
And the temperature begins to fade.
Creating a current that leads one way.
Flowing through a path that we created.
Taking us both where we want to be.

As the ice tames the fire,
The fire will melt the ice.

Note- I wrote this poem to explain what it is like to meet someone that is so polar opposite than yourself. Sometimes it’s funny how two totally different people can come together and create a balance that they both find rewarding. They each gain something from the other, that they didn’t necessarily realize they wanted. Maybe opposites do attract?

  1. This totally resonated with me, it brought a visual like no other to my lacking visual brain. Thank you for inspiring me, and sharing something so close to heart.
